Is BG3 Crossplay?

Baldur’s Gate 3 is on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. However, your friends might not all have the same system.
Maybe you don’t always want to play on your PC or only on your console.
So, does it support crossplay?
Does BG3 Support Crossplay?
Baldur’s Gate 3 does not currently support crossplay, but Larian has confirmed it will be available in the future.
Michael Douse, the head of publishing at Larian, mentioned that crossplay was always planned for BG3.
Currently, Mac and PC players can experience limited crossplay. However, playing with friends on other platforms like PS5 or Xbox is not yet possible.
BG3 was released on Xbox on December 8, 2023, but there’s still no information about crossplay.

Does BG3 Allow Cross Progression?
Yes, Baldur’s Gate 3 does offer cross-progression. It allows you to keep your progress across different platforms.
Now that it’s available on PS5 and Xbox, PC and Mac players can still use their saved files on these consoles.

Your saved game will be secure on any platform, allowing you to continue playing from where you left off.
To enable cross-progression, you must set up a Larian account. This is beneficial as it also gives you access to BG3 Twitch drops.
However, there is a drawback to this feature. To use cross-platform progression in BG3, you need to purchase the game twice: once for PC or Mac and once for PS5 or Xbox.
This might not be perfect for everyone, but it could be useful for those who use different systems in two places.

Does BG3 Allow Co-op Gameplay?
BG3 allows for four-player co-op and LAN multiplayer, which includes local co-op play.
However, meeting in person is often hard due to busy schedules and different time zones.
In a game like BG3, the ability to play across different platforms and systems is increasingly important because players want to connect with friends effortlessly.
