Is Astroneer Cross-Platform?
Astroneer, an indie sandbox adventure game, gained fresh interest in 2022 with its release on the Nintendo Switch.
People are curious if it supports playing across different consoles, known as cross-platform play.
Since it’s now on the Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, players want to know if they can play with friends on different platforms.

Does Astroneer Support Cross-platform Play?
No, currently, Astroneer does not fully support cross-platform multiplayer, except for Xbox and PC.
The Nintendo Switch version, despite being the newest release, does not have this feature.
This means Switch players can only play with other Switch players, and PS4 players cannot join Xbox servers.
To play with friends on different consoles, players must use the same platform, except for Windows and Xbox (including Game Pass) users.
While this limitation is disappointing, there’s a chance the developer may change this in the future.
For now, Astroneer players can still enjoy multiplayer within their own platform, and Xbox and PC players can play together.

About Astroneer
Astroneer is a game similar to No Man’s Sky, where players explore open-world planets, gather resources, and craft items.
However, Astroneer is designed for more casual players, with quicker progress and less focus on a specific goal or story.
Developed by System Era Softworks, it was first available in early access in late 2016 and had a full release in 2019 on Windows and Xbox One.
The PlayStation 4 version came later, and the game was most recently released on the Nintendo Switch on January 13.
Astroneer can be played by one to four people. Like other popular sandbox games, players can set up multiplayer games using dedicated servers, similar to how it’s done in Minecraft.
PC players using Steam can find instructions for hosting their own game on Astroneer’s official website.
Servers can also be rented from authorized providers. Alternatively, they can be bought on all four platforms.
